Accessing this file without prior screening and approval by the project lead and your site director will result in your immediate termination.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: Due to its nature, SCP-XXXX is at a constant threat of an information breach and could possibly lead to a catastrophic disruption of normalcy. As such, both Site-43 and Area-26 are currently working on a collaborative research effort in studying the nature of SCP-XXXX and how it functions in order to fully understand its possible global impact and effects. Until a solid basis for containment, or suppression of SCP-XXXX is found, Mobile Task Force Gamma-12 ("Dream Crawlers") is to be on constant standby, ready for immediate deployment in the case of a Stage One Two1 Koma event.

Gamma-12 is to be deployed to the location of the Stage One Two Koma event upon discovery and are directed to immediately amnesticize affected individuals, hereby designated SCP-XXXX-1. Following amnesticization, instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are to be placed under watch for 72 hours. After the 72 hours have ended, SCP-XXXX-1's internet activity is to be monitored indefinitely. In the event of any mentions of dreams SCP-XXXX-1 has had, posted online or otherwise, Gamma-12 is to be deployed and SCP-XXXX-1 is to be immediately terminated and brought to the nearest site for incineration. IP addresses that access online postings of SCP-XXXX-1 are to be traced and the individual is to be brought into Site-43 for indefinite containment.

Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are to be brought to Site-43 to undergo psychological testing and questioning. After the passing of 48 hours, the individuals are to be amnesticized and made D-Class personnel.

In the case of a Stage Three Koma event, the affected individual is to be re-designated as SCP-XXXX-2. Instances of SCP-XXXX-2 are to be quarantined and an 8km exclusion zone is to be established around SCP-XXXX-2. Any unauthorized individuals attempting to pass the perimeter are to be questioned, issued amnestics, and turned away under the guise of the area being the site of <filler>. Personnel are advised to use any force deemed necessary in the case of an unauthorized individual continuously attempting to enter the area. In the case of a Stage Three Koma event occurring on site, Gamma-12 is instructed to take affected individuals to a remote location for quarantine.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a memetic dream affecting approximately 0.0000017% 99%2 of the Earth's population. SCP-XXXX's effects consist of events occurring in three stages, known as Koma events. The first stage of which is capable of affecting any living organism capable of entering REM sleep. A Stage One Koma event is defined as the state of experiencing SCP-XXXX3. Advancement to stage two occurs when an affected individual experiences SCP-XXXX. Individuals experiencing a Stage Two Koma event undergo a constant urge to share information about SCP-XXXX. While the urge to discuss SCP-XXXX with others is easily ignored, instances of SCP-XXXX-1 will grow increasingly distressed if they are unable to discuss SCP-XXXX with another individual. If segregated from others, SCP-XXXX-1 instances will speak to themselves audibly, anticipating a passerby to overhear them, only stopping to eat or sleep. Use of amnestics has shown that SCP-XXXX-1 instances can be reverted to their pre-SCP-XXXX-1 state of being. To date, numerous SCP-XXXX-1 instances have been successfully amnesticized, but remain at Site-43 due to being at increased risk of recurrence of SCP-XXXX.

A summarized analysis of SCP-XXXX recounted by various subjects is as follows:

  • The subject wakes up in their bedroom at what appears to be noon.
  • The subject reads a paper document4 of what has been identified as SCP-████5.
  • Upon finishing the document, the subject gets off their bed and proceeds to a corner of the room.
  • In each instance, an arbitrary mechanical device is present in the corner of the room the subject goes to. (Recorded devices include a typewriter and an orrery.)
  • The subject spends a variable amount of time dismantling the device found in their room.
  • Immediately upon finishing, the subject wakes up.

A Stage Three Koma event occurs following SCP-XXXX-1 interacting with either the device they dismantled within SCP-XXXX or by conversing with another instance of SCP-XXXX-1. However, there is a noticeable difference in the intensity of the Stage Three Koma event depending on the activation circumstances.
